"The Rite" managed to score the top slot at the box office last weekend, proving without a doubt that Satan does indeed exist, and he has a hell of a sense of humor. How else to you explain the casting of an ACADEMY AWARD WINNER such as Anthony Hopkins?
Hysterical bouts of laughter aside, it seems the January dump of crappy films from Hollywood is going to spill over into the first weekend of February, with three quest items that will be sure to keep you out of the theaters (as well as the snow if you happen to live in the northeastern United States). Onward...
College student Sara (Minka Kelly) finds her life in jeopardy when she's assigned to a dorm room with a crackpot roommate named Rebecca (Leighton Meester).
Yes, you have seen this film before when it was called "Single White Female," and that one sucked as well. No name talent (unless you count Billy Zane as talent) such as this will likely be released to DVD before the weekend is over, so save yourself the gas, money, time, and just wait until your local Redbox craps this cinematic turd out.
An underwater cave diving team experiences a crisis when exploring the least accessible cave system in the world. In IMAX!
You know, maybe if they picked a more accessible cave system, they might not be up the cave shit's creek, as indicated by the trailer below. King of 3D James Cameron produced this man against nature story, proving further that all he's really a king of is Recycled Material.
Opening in limited release this week in this comedy/drama that details a woman's difficult relationship with her stepson.
The film is from 2009 but is getting a shoehorn release before the Oscars to no doubt further bolster Natalie Portman awareness in the eyes of the Academy voters. The rest of us are now sick of seeing her in just about EVERYTHING and wish she would just go away and have that French guy's baby already.
Lisa Kudrow costars. Now that's comedy!
Begin the assault!

Maybe they could re-release "Beautiful Girls". That at least was a good movie and no one seems to remember it.

P.S. I am terribly disappointed not to see a preview of the new Jason Statham classic "The Mechanic". :(
