When The Lights Go Up

We were forged in a darkened theater, children of the blockbuster.

"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..."

Those ten words forever imprinted on our souls, thus began an endless quest for the cinematic 'Holy Grail' throughout the kingdom of Hollywood. We fought for the perfection of film, the single entity in which all the elements came together in one harmonic convergence of sight and sound, and we are forever changed from the experience. We would settle for no less, yet we knew there would be a price to pay for our actions. For every "Raiders of the Lost Ark", there would be an "Ishtar". For every "Dark Knight", a "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen".

We have lived and died on the silver screen. We have toiled in the trenches of the industry, serving as lowly theater ushers scraping Jujubes from our soles. As projectionists, we have held 35mm film in our hands, then knew what it felt like to be a surgeon holding a human heart. We are film school graduates, movie extras, screenwriters, and filmmakers. We have logged thousands of hours of running times over the course of our journey, began and ended relationships, and even named some of our children after the cinema gods.

As the dawn breaks over a new decade, there is a sense of renewed hope in our continued quest. The previous ten years of film have returned us to our childhood spirit of wonderment with such entries as Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, "Iron Man", and Cameron's "Avatar". The movies became fun again, and we now look forward to the coming cinema filled years with a new found optimism and strength to carry our relentless passion (and for some, religion) forward.

This is where you will hear our voice. As the film industry continues to evolve, we will evolve right along with it. Films reviews, industry commentary, box office reports, DVD releases, interviews, films festivals, and the like. If it happens on the silver screen, we'll be there, posting on these events as often as possible. We also invite your comments, discussions, and suggestions, as we well know that we are not alone in our crusade.

When the lights go up, we brethren remain, endlessly questing for legend. We speak the language of screenplay. We follow the light of projection. We bow only to the Gods of Cinema. We are the ones who believe that a man can fly, that the Force is strong in this one, and that in space, no one can hear you scream.

We are the children of the blockbuster.

We are The Film Warriors.
